v Manorcroft 25/11/07 Won 3-1

Feltham entertained Manorcroft at Blenheim Park this morning as they looked to get back to winning ways following last weeks disappointing defeat at Kingstonians. A stiff wind had whipped up across the park as the teams kicked off and it was imperative that we got the ball down on the floor today.

  The Whites made a good start and soon had the visitors under pressure with some good through balls into Paulo and Lee up front. Paulo had the ball in the net but the goal was ruled out through hand ball. The Whites continued to pass the ball around well and some of our football was as good as we have played this season. Paulo gave Feltham the lead with a clever goal mid way through the half when he fired home over the keepers head from the edge of the box. Feltham continued to press in the first period but only had the solitary goal to show at half time.

  The second half saw Feltham continue where they left off in the first period and Manorcroft were defending gallantly as they tried to prevent Feltham from extending the lead. Turnell and Lee were now causing the visitors problems with their pace and Turnell extended the lead when he raced on to Jacks through ball and slotted under the keeper. Soon after it was 3-0 as a clever volleyed pass by Charlie was latched on to by Lee who beat the keeper. Feltham were now well on top and changed their personnel as the game was effectively won. However Manorcroft had other ideas and reduced the deficit with six minutes to go. They then had a couple of late chances to add to their tally as the Whites took their foot right off the pedal. The final whistle saw a 3-1 win for the home side, a good confidence booster for next weeks tough game at Meadow Sports.

  This was a much improved performance from the boys today and everyone made good contributions when asked to come on. Lets see if we can take this performance into next week as we need to build some consistency going into the seasons mid point.
