v Hampton Wanderers League 14/10/07 Won 4-2

Feltham entertained Hampton Wanderers in another local derby this morning at a warm and sunny Feltham Park. There was a big crowd in for this one and both teams served up an entertaining and close match that saw the Whites record their first win of the season.

  Feltham made a good start and created several chances with Lee and John Jo going close and forcing the Hampton keeper to make two good saves. Ryan made a good save to keep the visitors out as Hampton threatened on the counter attack. Feltham took the lead midway through the first period when Leon headed home after a good cross from Lee. Almost immediately Hampton equalised when a shot took a bad bounce and found the Feltham net. Feltham were well on top in the first period and their through balls constantly caused the visitors defence problems. It looked as though the teams would go in level at the break but another Feltham attack produced a penalty when Leon headed past the out coming keeper who duly flattened him. Leon coolly dispatched the penalty for a well deserved half time lead.

  Feltham quickly increased their lead when Leon completed his hat trick with a well taken shot from the edge of the box just after half time. Hampton now stepped up a gear and pushed Feltham deeper into their half. They pulled a goal to set up a cracking finale. Much to the home side’s relief Lee made it 4-2 with a cross cum chip from the left and Feltham saw out the last ten minutes safely.

  A good win which we fully deserved today and which was a good reward for the hard work the boys have put in so far this season. Next week we face a very tough encounter at Epsom Eagles and we will need to show all of our fighting spirit to gain anything out of the match. All 13 boys on display today produced great performances and can be proud of their commitment.
