Feltham Youth Under 11’s vs Elm Grove Eagles 30/09/07 2-5
After a late kick off Elm Grove were quick to take control and took an early lead (0-1). Jac then took an almost perfect corner but the blue shirts were outnumbered in the box and we couldn’t connect. Charlie also made a lovely shot straight to the keeper. The opposition had a few more chances on goal before scoring again from a long shot (0-2) before we managed to pull one back when Luca broke through (1-2). Elm Grove then took another high shot clear through Bradley’s outstretched hands (1-3) Feltham fought back and forced another corner but once again we were not well placed in the box. It seemed like the late kick-off had affected all the squad and they didn’t seem at all alert.
After a stern half time talk from Clint and Rob, Feltham seemed a lot more determined in the second half. Joe worked very hard but it was Jac who scored again for us from a free kick (2-3). Our defence were very slow to react to Elm Grove’s sudden breaks and they scored again when Bradley was left alone with their striker (2-4). Although Feltham battled on, and Ben, Jac, Jean-Luc and Jay each had tries on goal, our shots were not good enough to score. Elm Grove were much quicker with their breaks and more accurate with their shooting and soon managed another goal (2-5). Luca had a lovely try in the top corner which the goalkeeper got his fingertips to not long before the final whistle blew.
Despite the final score, the teams were pretty evenly matched. We look forward to meeting Elm Grove Eagles again later in the season.
Thanks to Elm Grove for a great game and their patience…. the volunteer referee and linesmen… Parents and supporters for turning up and cheering the team on.
