Feltham Youth Under 11's vs Knaphill Trojans 24/2/08 12-1

The team were keen to get stuck in today. With Jac W scoring in the first couple of minutes we were off to a good start. Feltham dominated the first half but despite a few mad scrambles in the goal mouth, it wasn't until a free kick was given that Arron scored our second goal. Knaphill were much improved from the last time we played them. They took their time and when they saw an opportunity, they were quick to exploit it. Catching our defenders a little unawares and forcing Bradley way off his line gave them the goal they deserved. James P took and missed a penalty but Luca got it back when he scored shortly after. James P didn't make the same mistake when another penalty was awarded bringing the score at half time to 1-4.

After a half time talk from Rob and Clint, Feltham came out more focused and determined. Lewis scored early and Luca's speed and agility proved too much for Knaphill's defence as he scored his second. It was good to see Ashley back after his recent injury and he proved his fitness by scoring two lovely goals in quick succession. Not to be outdone, Lewis added another to our scoresheet. Then Ashley got his hat-trick with another powerhouse long shot. With Lewis having a much improved season this year, he also managed a hat-trick when he scored again. Ben managed to get in on the action by scoring our last goal bringing the final score to 1-12.

Although Bradley didn't have a lot to do, this was largely due to our defence working much better together today. They closed down every ball they needed to and kept the game pushed firmly up into Knaphill's half.

Thanks to Knaphill for a great game. This team does not deserve the results they are getting. They are a lovely bunch of kids and they show an excellent approach to the game and a fantastic sense of sportsmanship. All the teams in this league could learn something from them.
