Feltham Youth Under 11's vs Guildford Saints Scorchers 06/01/08 8-0

Pleasantly surpirsed to find all the players keen to play desptie the long break over Christmas. Strong attacking by midfield and strikers lead to an early lead when Luca took the ball up the line and crossed for Ben to shoot (1-0) Ashley showed loads of enthusiasm and worked really well with Ben and Luca. He had a couple of lovely shots but the Guildford keeper managed to cover them. Luca tried a couple of shots but unfortunately no score. It was Ben again who placed an easy touch past a downed keeper to score our second (2-0). Jac W and Luca continued to do what they do best. Receiving the ball from midfield, they sped down the line like little whippets. Unfortunately, their crosses weren't met as they should have been and at half time the score remained 2-0.

In the second half the team settled in quickly and Jac W was quick to squeeze one in over the line (3-0). After so many tries in the first half, Luca finally managed to sort out his targeting to score our fourth (4-0). Goal of the game had to go to Ashley, though, who made a beautiful powerhouse ball from 25 yards out straight into the back on the net (5-0). It wasn't all attacking though, our defenders put on a great game, closing down every Guildford player with the ball. Sasha was back on form with some perfectly timed sliding tackles. (f only the boys were as ballsy as her!) Luca definitely preferred the sun on the other side of his face as he scored again (6-0) And Ashley proved his place on the team by scoring another well placed goal (7-0) Jac and Luca provided some strong crosses, working well with Ashley and Ben up front but it wasn't until late in the secondhalf that Ben pulled off his Hat-Trick (8-0)

Over enthusiasm and over confidence meant the team lost some of its shape in the second half with all players falling out of position in their attempt to score. They were lucky Guildford didn't manage to take advantage. However, overall a fanatastic result in our first game of the new year.
