Feltham Youth Under 11’s vs Knaphill Trojans 07/10/07 10-0
Playing on the Glebe pitch seemed to agree with team and they were early to take control of the game. Ben sent the ball across the goal and Jac crossed it back, somewhere in the middle Lewis appeared to tap it home (1-0) It gave the team the confidence they needed and they kept the pressure on throughout the first half. Both James P and Ben had a couple of chances on goal but hit the post. Arron P shot over the cross bar and Luca got in a shot or two. Feltham were attacking hard but they played bunched down the centre of the pitch and their shots weren’t accurate enough. It took Jordan, with a lovely volley from just inside the box, to increase the score (2-0). Then Luca made a lovely run through using his speed and agility to get into a good position to score again (3-0). Luca helped set up our fourth goal when he laid off the ball to Ollie who crossed for Jac to take a shot (4-0). Jac then scored again after a lovely cross by Luca (5-0). Nearing half-time Jac even sneaked in a little header to make the hat-trick (6-0).
In the second half, Feltham continued their assault on Knaphill’s defence with Jay scoring from inside the box (7-0) and James P scoring soon after (8-0). Feltham seemed to slow down a little as they became overconfident and they were taken a little unawares when Knaphill’s player made a break for goal. He got passed Bradley but Sasha managed to race back and protect the goal. It was a close call and the team realised they couldn’t relax whatever the score. After numerous attempts by Ben to score, it was a free kick taken by Arron which gave him the opportunity he needed (9-0). The most impressive goal, in my opinion, was the long shot over the keeper’s head taken by Jordan (10-0).
Although everyone was happy with the final score it is worth mentioning that Knaphill played with only 10 players and no subs. Their keeper pulled off some blinding saves and showed no fear at any time.
Thanks to the Trojans for a great game…. the volunteer referee and linesmen… Parents and supporters for turning up and cheering the team on.
