Feltham Youth 2 v Kew Park Rangers 1  

Feltham enjoyed another home victory with a hard fought 2-1 victory against Kew Park Rangers. On a bright sunny but chilly morning Adam returned to a full strength squad.

  The Blues had lost 1-3 at Kew before Christmas in their worst performance of the season and so were determined to reverse the result. However they made a poor start and were soon on the back foot against a lively Kew side who seemed to win most of the midfield possession and play the early ball over the top of the home back four. Kew took the lead with an own goal from a corner. As many a time this season this early set back seemed to wake up the Blues and they started to gain the upper hand although they were nearly punished further when a Kew striker blazed over the bar from close range and then Joe made a smart save. Feltham began to move the ball to the wide areas where John Jo and Anthony started to make the runs we know they are capable of. Several chances were scorned before John Jo raced away down the left and fired over the visiting keeper to equalise 5 minutes before half time.

  The second half saw a much better performance from the home side who had the visitors pinned back in their own half for much of the period. Turnell, Leon and Anthony all went close and the Kew keeper pulled off a couple of excellent saves to thwart John Jo. Half way through the second half Nathan outpaced the Kew defence to lift a fine shot over the advancing keeper for what turned out to be the winner. Feltham went close on several occasions to increasing their lead but had to be on their guard as Kew threatened to score near the end on the counter attack.

  Another 3 points is a welcome addition in our quest for promotion and what pleased me today was our attitude especially in the second half where we fought hard to get on top of the game. We now have a tricky run of games coming up with a hard game in store next week at Corinthian Casuals. There were once again some outstanding performances today. Apart from the named players the defence of Marco, Daniel S , Daniel Q , Richard and Adam all played well especially in the second half. Lewis and Simon did great jobs in both defence and central midfield whilst Anthony, Leon and Sam all performed well. Joe looked reliable in goal and pulled off a couple of good saves. Well done again boys.
