Feltham Youth 5 v Junior Bees 2
Feltham made it three wins on the bounce with a good second half performance against local rivals Junior Bees. Junior Bees will always be special opponents for our team as the match against them last season at Cranford proved to be the turning point for our season.
On a bright morning Feltham once again attacked the Asda end in the first half and soon settled down to play some good attacking football. The home side were soon in the lead when Turnell burst through the centre of the Bees defence to shoot home. Bees were level straight away when a free kick from the edge of the box found the Bees right winger who ghosted in at the far post. Within two minutes the Blues were ahead again when from a quick John Jo throw Turnell half volleyed home. Back came the Bees with another long range free kick which found the net. Feltham now settled down and had the visitors pegged back as they sought the lead again. Anthony shot home from close range to give Feltham a 3-2 half time lead and the breathless spectators had been treated to an eventful first period.
The second half saw the home side tighten up at the back and Feltham stepped up a gear to take the play to their visitors. Chances came and went as the Bees were forced to defend deep in their own half. All that was needed was the finish to some good link up play from Feltham but the chances continued to go begging and the Coach got balder and balder. Finally Nathan raced down the right and scored with a clever shot that fooled the Bees keeper and went in at his near post. Nathan was then tripped in the box but the penalty was unfortunately missed. Within minutes John Jo tore down the left and crashed home a great shot to make the score 5-2 to the home side.
Well done boys today for your second half display which was much improved. Maybe the first half was down to the early kick off or our training being cancelled , maybe some of you were down China Whites a bit too long last night !!! Next week we are faced with a real tough test as we travel to Corinthian Casuals in what will be our hardest test so far this season , lets take our good attitude into this game. Apart from the goalscorers there were good performances all round from the rest of the boys and well done Adam for playing nearly the whole game in an unaccustomed left back position.
Thanks today to George for Refereeing once again and to Bill for running the line. Good job fellas. Thanks to Jonathan for his physio duties and he was certainly busy today as the tackles flew in. Thanks to our parents for their support to the boys and thanks to all the boys on parade today for listening at half time and taking the instructions on board. Early nights and big breakfasts next weekend. Finally thanks to Drew and his Junior Bees for a keenly contested match.
