The game started out as a closely fought contest in this very tight division. It was obvious that Hayes had a couple of highly talented players that would test the boys to the limit. Hayes deservedly took the lead but Feltham struck back with a strong header from Matt. Unfortunately the Hayes strikers broke through again to make it 2-1 at half time. We made several changes in an attempt to give all the boys time on the pitch and were unlucky to go 3-1 down after half time. The boys rallied and Oliver scored a terrific free kick from outside the box to make it 3-2. Then came the turning point, Charlie had a goal disallowed for off-side that would have made it 3-3 and Feltham’s spirit was broken. Hayes scored 2 more before the end as we threw everything forward. This was our heaviest defeat of the season but by no means our worst performance.

Managers View

I was quite hard on the boys after the game as I feel some of them slipped back into the mode that they just need to turn up to win. They have to learn that if they want to compete against these teams they can’t allow the game to pass them by. This said some boys continue to impress, Eugelito was very strong again throughout the game and Ryan in goal did all he could. We all need to realise that these are quality sides we are playing against and some of the lads need to up their game or get left behind. I believe they will get there with the right guidance and the right advice. Thanks to Pete for refereeing and Steve Dye for running the line.
